Knowledge Exchange on National Access to the Green Climate Fund

The focal points of Papua New Guinea, Mongolia, and Indonesia for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) also known as National Designated Authority (NDA), along with the delivery partner of Uganda, supported by Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) held a knowledge exchange forum to share experiences and consult one another on potential best practices to strengthen national access to the GCF, through modalities such as accreditation and project pipeline development on May 5, 2021.

Aside from the NDAs from the three countries, . Several Direct Access Entities representatives from each country such as XacBank and Trade and Development Bank from Mongolia, as well as PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI) and Kemitraan from Indonesia were also attended and shared some of their lessons learned undergoing the GCF accreditation and developing the strong climate projects.

The four countries discussed several important topics, such as strategizing the accreditation function and addressing its challenges, generating robust project/program proposals and conducting an inclusive No-Objection Letter (NOL) procedure to ensure the project addresses national priorities and accommodating inputs from relevant stakeholders. The discussion produced several lessons learned and recommendations for National Designated Authorities and Direct Access Entities that hopefully become learnings for other countries. Further details of the lessons learned and recommendations can be found in this factsheet.
