On June 12, 2024, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) organized the annual Green Growth Program (GGP) Indonesia Steering Committee meeting in Jakarta. Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning, known as Bappenas, chaired the Steering Committee and led the meeting to discuss and review the GGP Phase III (2021-2025) progress for 2023-2024.
Bappenas Deputy for Maritime and Natural Resources Vivi Yulaswati highlighted in the meeting how GGGI would continue to support the Indonesian Government by making great strides towards sustainable, resilient, and green growth – one that upholds social inclusion and economic welfare at the same time – for the next 20 years.
During the discussion, the key government counterparts shared the progress of project implementation across the sectors, addressing key results, challenges, risks, and partnership opportunities, as well as outlining the vision of the future GGGI 2025 Indonesia Country Planning Framework Document.
The Green Growth Program in Indonesia aims to support the Government of Indonesia (GoI) in its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). GGGI’s funding portfolio in Phase III has expanded, resulting in diversified support for the Indonesian Government in various thematic areas such as sustainable land use, green finance and investment, energy, and green cities and e-mobility.
GGGI focuses on accelerating investment, fostering partnerships, and strengthening institutions to support Indonesia’s economic growth which goes hand-in-hand with its low-carbon development.
At the meeting, the Indonesian Government greatly appreciated GGGI’s continuous contribution to and support in achieving its national goals. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with GGGI Indonesia reiterating its strategic mission to support the GoI in achieving the country’s climate and green growth ambitions.
