The National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) and Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) held the 2nd Empathy Leadership Training for civil servants with the theme “Electricity Crisis in the Age of Electricity” on October 8, 2019 at CoHive, Menteng, Central Jakarta. A number of digital economic actors from various sectors gathered to review the blackout that had hit DKI Jakarta and West Java on 5 August, 2019.
Empathetic Leadership Training is a mini-training designed to explore the public emic perspective or explore from the point of view of the community itself. This training emphasizes participants to be sensitive to the issues impacting the community so that they can formulate policies that meet the needs and relevant with the community.
This is the first program that provides a no-boundary and no-distance between officials and community, focusing on people who are left behind from public policy or those who received the negative impact of public policy.
The training aim to build managerial competencies, especially the improvement of soft skills for public services that lead to sensitivity training, to train sensitivity in formulating and making policies as well as public services. Going forward, the development of an empathy-based leadership character is expected to be the basis of policy making that is align with existing social realities and is in favor of the community.
