Integrating Green Growth into Development Planning, Developing Green Cities, and The Promotion of Green Energy and Green Projects



Ministry of National Development Planning Republic of Indonesia is currently in the process of developing the National Medium-Term Development Plan 2020-2024 (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Panjang Nasional/RPJPN) which has a strong focus on low carbon development, to ensure Indonesia’s climate actions target (Nationally Determined Contributions/NDC) can be achieved as well as Indonesia’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). To obtain more comprehensive knowledge and sense on what Green Growth, the Ministry teamed up with GGGI Indonesia and GGGI China to hold a South-South Knowledge Exchange event on 19-23 November 2018.

 

During the event, there was an opportunity for participants to discuss the challenges and the success factors as experienced by China on implementing program implementation on the long – term Green Growth. In addition, participants had a chance to learn about strong effort from China Government in compiling policies on incentives to create local manufacturing facilities and related infrastructure to solar panel, furthermore participants can learn on how China Government using the public transport system as the initial point of rolling out the electric vehicle infrastructure as a viable path.

 

This South-South Knowledge Exchange event served as a platform for sharing experience and insights from Danzao and Nanhai Local Government in Shenzhen, China on best practices on green growth, public policies for sustainable mobility and transport on how they play a key role in guiding industrial development and promoting industry and Research & Development clusters and shows how they take a proactive role in shaping the development of the economy and guiding it.
