The Bali Provincial Government and GGGI hosted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on March 15, 2024, at the Bali Provincial Bappeda office. This event was part of the ‘Piloting Electric Vehicle Systems and Developing a Green Transportation Investment Roadmap for Bali, Indonesia’ project.

Representatives from the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Ministry of Transportation, Bali Provincial Bappeda, Bali Provincial Transportation Agency, Badung Regency, Gianyar, Tabanan, Klungkung, Denpasar City, development partners, and various other related parties attended the event.

The Head of Bali Provincial Bappeda opened the discussion with the latest developments and results from the technical study, followed by a project presentation by the E-Mobility Project Manager from GGGI. The Team Leader of the Urban Transport Development Substance Group, representing the Director of Road Transport of the Ministry of Transportation, also made a presentation. The technical study aims to examine the environmental and economic impacts of deploying e-buses and charging stations and recommends potential routes, business models, and policies that can optimize EV implementation in Bali. The FGD generated fruitful discussions where participants actively provided recommendations and feedback on the initial findings of the pre-FS level study. The team will further engage with beneficiaries to finalize the potential e-bus routes for the detailed feasibility study.

The Government of Indonesia with support from the Government of the Republic of Korea, through GGGI as the implementing organization, jointly supports efforts to accelerate the penetration of electric vehicles at the regional and national levels by providing technical support for inclusive mobility needs. This effort is realized through the Bali E-Mobility Project which is piloting electric buses and charging stations in Bali Province. The pilot project, furthermore, aims to initiate an enabling environment for green transportation investments across Indonesia.
